PORTLAND, Maine — The Maine Green Independent Party is holding its 2012 annual state convention in Portland.
Party activists meet Saturday at the Maine Historical Society. The convention keynote speakers are Pat LaMarche and Jonathan Carter. Both are former Maine Green Party gubernatorial candidates and are credited for the party’s early growth.
Presidential candidates Jill Stein, Roseanne Barr and Kent Mesplay will also address the convention via Skype. Attendees also will have a chance to meet and hear from local candidates for office, discuss issues facing the state this election year, and vote for the party’s presidential nominee.
The Greens’ convention coincides with the state Republican Convention in Augusta.

Roseanne Barr??
The greenies have succeeded where all others have failed…making LePage look reasonable by comparison!
Roseanne is very outspoken about a lot of issues that are not being talked about in the mainstream media, but I would love to find out how she feels about Agenda21 and the post-sustainability policies that are having a detrimental impact on our local farmers markets as local farmers will gradually be denied access to their own lands through increased regulations imposed by the lobbying efforts of NGO’s with seemingly unlimited cash funds to assert UN policy here by a “stealth democracy,” an “under-informed consensus,” and the communitarian ideal of “for the greater good” without a full examination of for “whose good” do they mean when we can’t grow our own food
locally!
