BANGOR, Maine — Police have released a picture of the young man who they say used a knife to threaten and rob a Circle K store clerk on Broadway early Sunday morning while others shopped.

The image released by Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards shows a man with his face covered with a purple material walking into the store at around around 1:45 a.m.

“He’s very young,” the sergeant said, describing the robber.

The man with the knife is described as at white man between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall, 200-220 pounds with dark hair.

“Several customers were believed to be in and around the store at the time of robbery,” Edwards said in a statement.

“The suspect had fled” by the time Officer Kyle Pelkey and backup units arrived at the store at 489 Broadway, the sergeant said.

The man got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and last was seen wearing a dark colored T-shirt with a white design, bluejeans and black sneakers with white soles.

Those who have information about the robbery can call Detective Erik Tall at the Bangor Police Department at 947-7382. The department’s anonymous tip line can be reached by pressing extension 6.
