STANDISH, Maine — Authorities are investigating a burglary in which a 2-year-old autistic boy’s iPad, which he uses to communicate, was stolen.
The burglary occurred on Cedar Street on April 28, according to a news release from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department.
The homeowners were attending a funeral when the home was broken into. In addition to the boy’s iPad, a Sony laptop computer and an iPod also were reported stolen.
The iPad has “Property of Bryant Lindsey” inscribed on the back of it. According to detectives, the family requested the information to include where the burglary took place and the boy’s name in hopes it will lead police to the culprit or culprits.

I highly doubt the burglars knew he was autistic, makes for a great headline though…
They are probably hoping putting that in headline will get the thieve or thieves to return it. Which i do hope they do
most likely it was someone they know who knew they were away at a funeral….scumbags.

I see this story conveniently leaves out the fact that Sheriff’s officers bought the kid a new IPad and are getting money together to buy a new lap top for him. Anything that portrays the cops in a good light they don’t report on. Kudo’s to WGME for mentioning this fact on the 6PM news tonight. You know if cops beat the crap out of the suspect they would be reporting how bad the cops are and how they need to be suspended.

Its possible that when this report came in that was not mentioned. Its not the reporters fault. Kudos to the cops though. Great job, because i would have sent one to the station and had them take it to him
