FAIRFIELD, Maine — State police divers are searching a Maine river near a bridge in Fairfield where a car reportedly went into the water.

Maine Today Media said a police log shows that a motor-vehicle crash involving a Pontiac Vibe was reported near the site along U.S. Route 201 on Saturday night.

A first-responder alert Saturday night said a motor vehicle was in the water and police, ambulances and fire units were sent to the scene.

Fairfield police said they would release information Sunday afternoon.
