AUGUSTA, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage’s nominee to fill a vacant seat on the Maine Public Utilities Commission has been endorsed by a legislative committee.

The Committee on Energy, Utilities and Technology on Monday voted to recommend Senate confirmation of Mark Vannoy to the commission.
Vannoy, an engineer from Waldoboro, currently works as associate vice president of Wright-Pierce engineering firm.

If confirmed by the Senate, Vannoy would serve through March 2013 to complete the term of Vendean Vafiades. Vafiades has retired from state service after five years on the commission.

The Public Utilities Commission regulates electric, natural gas, telecommunications and water utilities.

  1. Gov. LePage always has a knack for picking the right people for the right job. A sign of a great leader.

    1. Bonny, the 1st time that Vannoy vote’s AGAINST one of Paulie’s campaign contributor’s I will be the first one to publicly agree with you. But given Paulie’s recent track record of appointment’s that have a distrubing history of either conflict of business or personal interest, I for one don’t see it happening anytime soon.

  2. Time to fire PUC commissioner David Littell on the basis of his also being the Chair of the northeast’s Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). That is a conflict of interest in that the PUC is there to ensure electricity reasonable rates and RGGI is there to shove expensive renewable energy (WIND POWER) down our throats.

  3. The public utilities commission governs our utilities but who is governing the PUC? Who is at the helm driving. Who is accountable for all the mis conseptions, lies, bad dicisions, and waste of funds amoungst us. Is it Gov Baldaucci he was one heck of a visionist Dreaming, and spending.  Bottom line is: it’s our leaders allowing the needless spending of unnecessary programs, the fulfilment of corporate greed, and the running of the clock needlessly. Wake up and get moving The National Monorail System waits. Folks around the nation are still hungry and waiting for our governments to create jobs. You are not going to find it blowing in the wind thats a sure thing. Where are the new farm subsidies, Where are the nationally funded co-ops. I hope Governor Lapage has more common sense than his predatorsesors.  ———- Got Vision————–

  4. If LePage wants college grads to stay in Maine.  Why does he always hire people that are not from Maine..  here is another one..  Mark VannoyLocation Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina Area Industry Investment Management
