UNION, Maine — A 32-year-old woman was arrested Friday after she arrived at her child’s elementary school while under the influence of alcohol, according to state police.
Jennifer Marriner was arrested for operating under the influence after she drove to the Union Elementary School to pick up her child.
Sgt. Patrick Hood said that when the mother arrived, a school official called state police, and he was nearby and responded within a few minutes.
The school did not release the child to the mother before Hood arrived.
Her blood alcohol level was greater than the 0.08 level at which a person is deemed to be under the influence, Hood said.
She was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland and released on bail.
It was not immediately clear who was contacted to care for the child.

It is sad that this is happening alot lately. Between being drunk too just being dumb. Glad the kid is ok and with someone safe
Looks like this isn’t Jennifer’s first rodeo.
“On June 25, 2009, a confidential informant working for the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) made a controlled purchase of diazepam pills from Jennifer Marriner in Rockland. Later, in August, Nigro and Jennifer’s brother, Skip Marriner, arranged with Jennifer to sell cocaine.”
Doesn’t appear she did much time for the drug trafficking. Oh, well.
How do we know this is her though. Could be more than one
It’s her. Trust me.
it’s her. She’s a real piece of work.
ok John..thanks for the support there buddy….again I love how everyone automatically believes everything they read or see on the news & how everyone THRIVES on others problems & mistakes…
I didnt do much time for trafficking because I wasnt the one trafficking the cocaine it was my brother..I went to jail for GIVING the informant, that thought was a VERY close friend some of my medication because he had stolen the same medication I am prescribed from his girlfriend, who at the time was my best friend..Id be more interested in why my Brother skip did NO jail time.
So sad for this child.
Kudos to the school for their vigilance.
She would have walked, but it was too far when you’re drunk.
What a role model for the kid.
and if this child grows up to drop out of school, etc……….the schools will be blamed.
And the parent of the year award goes TO: . . . .
Nice.Hope she managed to get a few scratch tickets on the way to school!
We have parents like this and yet so many on this forum would blame homosexuals for the condition of kids these days?
The kid wasn’t drunk !
No, the mother was. Sorry, guess you had to be on the gay-bashing forum yesterday where people were blaming the problems of today’s youth on homosexuals. I blame it on parents like this mother and the many others we have heard about in the news recently. That’s the point I was attempting to make, but I guess it might not make sense if you missed the gay-bashing yesterday.

BDN this is a really putzy article!!! Shame on you! I’ll give you the mother deserved to be arrested and hauled to jail .. but, did you have to publish her NAME??? Now, all of her child’s classmates will find out this happened. Poor child. Shame on BDN.
Was an arrest the right course. I doubt it very much. When ‘jovial’ father X comes to pick up the kid, what are the chances his ‘joviality’ will be seen as an indication that the State Police should be called.
I see there are other alleged problems here. This should not have been a news story.
I wasnt arrested I was charged & released. & I passed all feild sobriety tests but agreed to the breath test as I felt FINE being a.084 etc doesnt mean I was slobering drunk & besides there is a lot thats left to be corrected about most if not ALL of these publications
I’ll bet that Mommy’s arrest was news at the school before it broke in the paper. Failing field sobriety tests in the front lot of the school probably gave it away. Name in the paper? Everyone deserves their five minutes of fame. She got hers, although she brought it on herself.
I PASSED every field test, & agrred to the breath test as I felt completely fine & even if I had refused the breath it would have been implied consent to charge me anyway…& seriously…people..do you ALL believe the worst about everyone? & believe everythign the papers post?
Jeez, let’s plan the future of this poor kid so he or she knows what “wrong” roads to take. Some kids don’t use their parents as an excuse for acting out. Some actually take their parents mistakes and do something better with their lives. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. Example: A girl get sexually abused as a child and chooses not to be a predator herself, she becomes a counselor for other people that had the same experience. If we focused more on how to become better people than who to blame our flaws on it would make more sense and this world would be a better place.
Girls are not sexual predators. Hint.
sexual predators can be men or women…..
They are sometimes. Have you never heard of any of the female teachers who enter into sexual relationships with their teenage male students? By the way, I’m not saying this behavior is limited to teachers, but when teachers do it, it hits the media big time.
Wait a minute, this isnt the V.F.W.
How else is a mother suppose to deal with the beaurcatic crap of the school systems today
Getting sober and staying sober would be one way to deal with the bureaucracy and would be great for her kid(s).
Pass the Allan’s
Her name should have been in BOLD PRINT – The shame goes to HER not the child. Grow up and try being part of the solution instead of part of the problem.
THIS Mother you ALL are referring to is ME & I, happen to be a very good, SINGLE Mother of 2 & am going to college & am 1yr away from my BA. Yet I AM Human…people make mistakes…FEELING too drunk to drive or care for your children & being over the legal limit to drive are NOT the same, having a beer & a .079 BAC is LEGAL, yet some would be too intoxicated to stand, having 2 beers & a BAC of.082 is illegal to drive but could feel like you’ve had nothing to drink to others. Everyone metabolizes & reacts to alcohol differently & as I will say AGAIN..there are LOTS of things left out of all of these publications & MANY things that need to be edited…..people should not always ASSume that these publications know the whole story and/or that they havent omitted very pertinent information regarding the circumstance
