CARMEL – Randy S. Hawes, 49, died May 16, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Oct. 15, 1962, in Bangor, the son of Robert Hawes Sr. and Gloria (Overlock) Tapley.

Randy enjoyed fishing – summer and winter, hunting, and watching NASCAR racing and wrestling. He worked at Cyr Bus Line for 33 years and he made many wonderful friends there. Randy was a member of Lynde Lodge 174 AF & AM, Hermon, and Anah Shrine, Bangor. Randy was rough and tough but had a tender heart, and he always had a kind word for everyone.

Randy is survived by his mother, Gloria Tapley and his stepfather, Colby Tapley; the love of his life, Shannon Vanidestine; stepchildren, Ashley Talon, David Kelly and Brittany Kelly, all of Bangor; brothers, Alan Hawes and his wife, Sue, of Bangor, Ricky Hawes and his wife, Cindy, of Spring, Texas, and TJ Warner and his wife, Kerry, of Windham; sisters, Sherrie Pedersen and her husband, Dana, of Carmel and Heidi Johnson and her husband, Thomas, of Levant; brothers-in-law, Philip Vanidestine and Eric Good; nieces and nephews, Travis Hawes and his wife, Dianna, Misty Hawes, Tommy Pedersen, Alex Pedersen, Olivia Johnson, Nicolas Johnson, Logan Hawes, Max and Maddi Good. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Hawes Sr.; and brother, Robert Hawes Jr. He will be greatly missed by his special friends, Jay Porter, Wayne Shaw, Mike Julian, and so many more. The family expresses a special thank you to Joe Cyr and family for being a mentor to Randy, and for their loving kindness to Randy and his family.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the visitation.
