DOVER-FOXCROFT – Miriam Theresa (McManus) McArthur, 69, Sunday, May 13, 2012, in Warwick, N.Y. She was born in Bronx, N.Y., daughter of Eugene and Anna (Simon) McManus.

She moved to West Milford, N.J., Upper Greenwood Lake, after graduating from James Monroe High School, Bronx, N.Y. In 1991, Miriam and her husband, Tom, moved to Dover-Foxcroft, where she became involved in her community. An active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, she was a member of Bernadette and Bereavement teams, an usher and served on the parish council. She was a member of Piscataquis County Republican Committee, served as chair of the committee for two years, was a representative to the state committee and a founding member and secretary of Central Maine Republican Women.

Surviving is a son, David V. McArthur and companion, Katrina Whirty; stepson, Joseph McArthur of New York; special son, George S. Drossel and wife, Katie, of New Jersey; brothers, Frank and Sheila McManus, Tom and Marilyn McManus, William and Barbara McManus, and Vincent McManus; sister-in-law, Barbara McManus; and a granddaughter, the love of her life, Julia Drossel. She was predeceased her husband, Tomas W. McArthur, in 2008; son, John W. Tucci Jr.; and brother, Eugene McManus.

Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Dover-Foxcroft. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to CancerCare of Maine, Lafayette Center, Brewer, ME 04412. Arrangements by Richards Funeral Home, West Milford, N.J.
