PORTLAND, Maine — Eighty-eight students are getting their law degrees from the University of Maine School of Law.
U.S. District Court Judge Kermit Lipez is the keynote speaker for Saturday’s commencement at Merrill Auditorium in Portland.
Maine Supreme Judicial Court Justice Joseph Jabar is this year’s recipient of the L. Kinvin Wroth Award. The award, named after former law school dean Kinvin Wroth, honors a Maine law school graduate who has achieved distinction in his or her career.

Oh Boy, 88 more…..of America’s second least respected brethren, the least being their first cousins, politicians.
Everybody hates a lawyer, until they need one…
Congrats and good luck with passing the bar exam!
Awesome! Have fun getting paid to cheat the law.
I wonder how many lawyers we graduate for every engineer, it was four in the eighties when I was in college, probably up to ten or so now. Why do we need engineers in this economy? It’s obvious why we need lawyers, unfortunately and people are ok with it.
what’s the difference between a dead snake in the road and dead lawyer in the road……………………the snake has skid marks in front of it.
88 more liberals just what Maine needs.
Definition of bitter: causing pain, stinging; characterized by hostility.
Lawyer jokes are funny but the insults without the punchline just make you look bitter and pathetic. Some of us are in our 30s, and the first in our families to go to college, never mind obtain a higher degree and many of us worked multiple jobs while attending school full time. I find it hard to believe that I have offended you by bettering myself in hopes of someday being able to buy a home, have a family, and give back to this great state I call home. Did you know Maine attorneys rank second in the nation for the number of pro bono hours worked annually? I’m sure you didn’t. Don’t worry, your hurtful comments can’t take away the pride on my parents’ faces yesterday. Here’s to you someday becoming the kind of person who can celebrate another person’s accomplishments instead of cutting them down!
