CARIBOU, Maine — A Mars Hill man who was sought by Maine State Police for nearly a month in connection with a woman’s vicious beating has requested a jury trial.

Chad B. Walton, 30, was indicted by the Aroostook County grand jury on charges of assault and obstructing the report of a crime or injury in connection with a violent domestic assault on Nov. 20, 2011. When he appeared in court in February, a mental health exam was ordered after his attorney Jeff Pickering of Houlton, requested one be conducted.

According to court documents, Walton assaulted the female victim so badly that she sought treatment for serious facial injuries at a local hospital. The victim told police that she and Walton had an argument over money and she called police to report that he had struck her on the head. He then allegedly tried to destroy an Xbox game machine and ripped a telephone out of the wall. At the time, he was on probation, court documents revealed.

In July 2010, Walton was sentenced to jail for aggravated assault, violating conditions of release, terrorizing and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.

During the 2011 incident, the victim said Walton threw her down on the couch, attempted to strangle her and punched her in the eye. She told police Walton said if he was going to jail he was going to “make it worth his while.”

The victim sought treatment at the hospital and police found her with her left eye swollen shut, marks on her neck and blood on her face and neck.

Walton fled the area soon after the incident and was on the run for close to a month before a vehicle in which he was a passenger was pulled over on Interstate 95 in Dyer Brook in December 2011 by state police.

Walton fled on foot from the vehicle and attempted to escape into the woods.

After a brief foot chase, he was captured and arrested without further incident.

In requesting the mental health exam, Pickering wrote that Walton had “no specific memory” of the incident and has described periods of “blackouts.”

He has pleaded not guilty and remains at the Aroostook County Jail, according to court documents.

  1. man i’m tired of hearing about these losers beating women, sure would be nice to go back in time and give these pukes what they deserve. instead we’ll feed, house, medicate, and protect them. i for one believe we need to stop this bs now! its gotten way outta hand, and it seems to multiply weekly.  these type people should be dropped from a plane on enemy soil, left to fight for their lives with a rock and a white flag.. sorry to vent, i’ve just had enough of useless humans using up our air..

    1. I agree, there’s no excuse for beating women.  HOWEVER, there’s also no excuse for women who go to the courthouse and make false allegations of domestic violence against their spouse or significant other,  knowing that by doing so, it enables them to obtain immediate child custody, and also absolutely free legal representation by the battered women’s project in family court.  They then use these lies as leverage against the child’s father to manipulate the decisions of the court, (and make no mistake… this happens ALL THE TIME… and seems to also be increasing at an alarming rate).   The real victims are the children whose lives are needlessly ripped apart by selfish and dishonest women.

      1. You are right….but just remember that the vast majority of women are telling the TRUTH

        1. I don’t think I’d go so far as to say “the vast majority”….     Again, there’s no excuse for domestic violence, especially towards children.  But, the system IS being manipulated….  more than occasionally.

        1. Im not defending him, Im simply letting you know that 5 minutes alone with him would only put you in the hospital. I would never defend breaking a womans jaw!

  2. Did you notice how quick his attorney started prepareing for an insanity defence. Poor boy must have been out of his mind. I say send him to warren with a big note tied to his neck that says ” I am a woman beater” . Bubba likes his kind!!!!!

  3. John Boy, maybe you wouldn’t have money problems if you didnt buy an xbox or sit around playing it all day.

Some one here the other day said Houlto was the most redneck town in maine. I say follow rt 1 north and you’ll find worse pockets of them up here.

  4. Why waste the taxpayers dollars with this dude.  Just keep the guy in jail…before he kills a woman. The guy is a criminal.

  5. Where are all of the Maine MMA fighters.  My dream in life would be for every man who has layed a hand on a woman to have to get in a ring with one of these young men for practice and to see what it is like to be beaten senseless.  If they were treated as punching bags, maybe they would stop treating women as such.

  6. this loser learned it from the masters…his family.  It’s what they do.  And after being in so much trouble, running from the law, hiding, lying, previous multiple convictions, his own jumpsuit monogrammed at the Maine State Prison and other correctional facilities…I say he doesn’t deserve a jury trial.  Coz it’s only gonna cost US taxpayers…

  7. and I’m sure he’s out on $4.50 worth of bail…….Awwwww poor boy can’t remember what happened -as if somehow he is the victim here pffffffft.   I find it odd that he has no memory of what he did yet he was on the run for a month and when the car he was in was pulled over he took off for the woods……probably just had the urge to go for a jog- I’m sure it had nothing to do with the fact that he likes to hit women and knew what he had done……

  8. He is a Walton afterall… so sad for this woman :( she deserves so much more. I pray she doesn’t take this loser back like most of the girls up here usually do.
