KITTERY, Maine — Maine Turnpike officials are warning motorists of heavy traffic as people leave the state at the end of the Memorial Day weekend.

The Maine Turnpike Authority issued a traffic alert Monday afternoon advising of delays in the southbound lanes between Wells and Kittery.

Officials said stop-and-go traffic was being reported between York and the New Hampshire state line.

    1. yes, there is a really neat rest area just before you get out of Maine!! Hopefully if they are stuck in traffic they MAY stop at the rest area and leave some cash there!!!! LOL

  1. To the departing tourists,
Please take a couple free loading system abusers home with you.  You can have them for free and we will even pay your gas for the trip home.

  2. Will there ever be a headline that says : Heavy traffic coming into Maine on the Maine Turnpike?
