CORINTH – Roma Linda Whitney, 71, went home to be with the Lord May 29, 2012, at home with her family by her side, after a short illness. She was born July 6, 1940, in Kenduskeag, daughter of Blanchard H. and Marie Leola Ellis.

Roma graduated from East Corinth Academy, class of 1959. She held many jobs throughout her life, her favorite being working for the SAD school system for 22 years until her retirement. Her passion in life was her grandchildren, family and especially her flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Harold and Lee. Surviving are her son, Roger and his fiancee, Christina Clark, of Guyton, Ga.; grandchildren, Megan and Casey Whitney of Hermon, and Lauren Voisine and Jagger Clark of Guyton, Ga.; sisters, Annie Smith of Bangor, Rita Beckwith of Bangor, Blanche Peterson and her husband, Karl, of Corinth, and Rena Smart of River Head, Long Island, N.Y.; brother, Stephen Ellis of Corinth; many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Eva Allen for her care during her brief illness.

Services to celebrate her life will be held 6 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Corinth United Methodist Church. Those who wish to remember Roma in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Hospice, 900 Broadway, Bangor, ME 04401.
