Incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud leads his Republican 2nd Congressional District opponents in fundraising by a wide margin, according to campaign finance data released Friday.
Michaud raised $809,400 to Republican Kevin Raye’s $152,476 and GOP candidate Blaine Richardson’s $554, the candidates’ quarterly Federal Election Commission filings state.
Michaud has $520,250 from a host of nonparty or political action committees, unions, associations, corporations and the paper industry and $287,612 in individual contributions, according to his filing, which covers January 2011 to March 2012.
Raye’s listed contributions include $570 from PACs and other such organizations, with the rest coming from individuals or his own Raye for Congress group. Richardson’s campaign organization, Richardson for Congress 2012, and Richardson himself are his listed contributors.
The quarterly filings were due at midnight Thursday, officials said.

None of this is surprising…the overwhelming majority of Maine voters want these TeaPublicans OUT. This is what happens when they attack, demean, belittle and bash pretty much everyone in the state. November will bring an overwhelming Democratic landslide in all races.
and then you woke up.
“Michaud has $520,250 from a host of nonparty or political action committees, unions, associations, corporations and the paper industry”.
How come you left out the part where he has almost TWICE as much individual donations than Raye has? And of course the unions are going to support anyone BUT a TeaPublican.
Sorry for that, thats the part that real got to me but here you go. “$287,612 in individual contributions, according to his filing, which covers January 2011 to March 2012.”. Also that only shows that his supporters paid more then Raye’s supporters.
Also unions supports Dems and nothing else. I sure hope the unions voted on that. I know you don’t care but I would be willing to bet some Republican union worker that are upset their money supportes Mike.
The unions own Mike Michaud’s soul, he would not dare vote against any union proposal, no matter what.
Good man!
Mans, Man
Yes, the $520,000 from special-interest groups (two-thirds of his total take!) certainly looks like a vast popular repudiation of the Tea Party.
Looks more like a vast endorsement by the Left of Citizens United. “Just fighting fire with fire,” is what they will say.
Keep thinking it and it might come true. Not.
You mean democrats don’t attack, demean, belittle and bash? That is a “belly laugh” statement.
Mike. LOL enough said
It’s all good, the conservative activist judges on the Supreme Court made sure that all Raye has to do is get adopted by a single annonymous billionare and then he will have plenty of out-of-state resources.
and Mike could find a out of state billionare also couldn’t he?
It’s all about the money not who is best for the job !!
Media Mike has done soo little over the course of soo many years..!
Its time we vote someone in that will actually help the residents of Northern Maine.
Its not the fact he’s a “close friend” of Barney Frank, rather its more of the lack of effort to engage small business in the Katahdin Region. For years Michaud passed the buck by sending small business to such useless taxpayer funded groups like the MTI- Maine Technology Institute, and or EMDC- Eastern Maine Development Corporation. Ironically enough, when the federal faucet started to be shut off, these same bottom feeders from U-Maine, MTI and other taxpayer leaches actually had the stones to want more bonds.
*We need to stop feeding these taxpayer funded crack addicts, and let them go cold turkey.
Either Raye or Richardson would do a fine job, and are both totally committed to the economic recovery of Northern Maine.
Its time to put Mike back into the mill, and let him:
worry about if the mill will shut down again-
worry about heating bills-
worry about if some union or corporation will run off with the pension fund-
and then he will have to listen to some political lifer tell him that he, or she knows your pain….
Mike Needs to Go…!!!!!
Amen. It’s also time for Mike to start paying for his own vehicle, instead of billing the taxpayers for $800 per month on his leased car.

Michaud already makes $174K per year, plus unreal benefits, expenses and perks. Why can’t he buy his own car, and pay for his own gasoline, like most Maine residents?
Too bad that he will never return to a mill, his nice pension package all the politicians gets if they don’t get voted back in, means they don;t have to work again, oops did I say work, they stoped working 1st day after they get voted into office, both Rep and Dems alike.
Amen to that…
We suffer with pay cuts, stolen pensions and an uncertain employment future,,, they should too….!
I bet that if every Congressman & Senator could never make more than $65K a year, and no past or present President could not make more than $85K a year— we would see a much different climate in Washington…!
Sorry for this negative blog but I am a disabled veteran tha has asked for his help but he has left me high a dry. I truely belived he was for veterans but I was wrong. I will not vote for him and will tell everyone I see not to also.
He’ll probably call you after his minions see your blog. Take what he is offering, but let it be a lesson to you. Libbers like gay (and I mean happy) boy prey on people wanting to feel like someone has their back. Conservatives will actually be the first to lend you a hand. They feel true compassion and a sense of personal responsibility to the less fortunate among us.
I want to puke every time I see the ad with Michaud trying to drum up fake tears and claiming how much he is for the veterans. Michaud isn’t for anyone but himself and has been nothing but a rubber stamp for Pelosi. It is time for him to go.
I think it is a disgrace that as a disabled veteran you can not get the help you need but don’t give up hope!

You are not alone, I know of one guy that has suffered from two IED injuries, and another with deep and scary PTSD, and neither has gotten so much as an inquire from the ______.
Both of these soldiers are still in the military and neither has anything to say about Media Mike that wont be censored.
Mike Needs to Go…!
He is selling his soul!
He “has” sold his soul…!
But then again, many would say he never had one to begin with…

with cameras I’m sure

That was a sexy photo opportunity too good to pass up.
It must have benefitted Michaud in some way, most dont get so much as a card.
So his haul from the establishment makes him the better choice? BDN subterfuge.
When it’s clear that you can be bought, the campaign bucks roll in.
Does the name George Soros ring a bell? There was a report some time ago that this billionaire gave Michaud’s campaing coffers a big boost.
