BUCKSPORT – Edith E. Arnold, 85, died Sunday, May 27, 2012, in Brewer. She was born Nov. 17, 1926, the daughter of Raymond Sr. and Edith (Arey) Atwood.

Edith had a great love of family and was known to be an excellent cook. She enjoyed visiting Christmas fairs and dining out at church suppers. In her younger years she enjoyed roller-skating. She was a member of Bucks Mills Extension Group and was active at Bucksport Senior Center. She was an Avon representative for 23 years, being one of the first in the Bucksport area.

She is survived by and will be sadly missed by her husband of 63 years, Alden K. Arnold; her brothers and sisters, Raymond Atwood Jr. and wife, Thiry, Barbara Thomas, Yvonne Downs and husband, Charles, Ernest Atwood and wife, Maxine, Fred Atwood and wife, Betsy, Wilfred Atwood and wife, Martha, Joan Bridges, and Herbert Atwood and wife, Irene; three grandsons, four great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Edith was predeceased by her son, Roger W. Howard Jr.; and two sisters, Ruth Hutchins and Shirley Grigsby.

A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Riverview Cemetery, River Road, Bucksport. Donations in Edith’s memory may be made to Bucksport Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 200, Bucksport, ME 04416. Arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
