PRESQUE ISLE – Beulah (Hughes) Roix, 90, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012, at a Presque Isle hospital. Beulah was born Feb. 13, 1922, in Allagash, the daughter of Thomas and Delia (Jackson) Hughes.
Beulah is survived by her children and their spouses, Tim and Lee Roix of Washburn and Cheryl and Lee DeMerchant of Presque Isle; and grandchildren, Caitlyn and Bryce Roix of Washburn and Isaac and Sarah DeMerchant of Presque Isle. She also leaves behind a sister, Rose Barnes of Presque Isle; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Beulah was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Roix; her brother, J. Hampton Hughes; and her sisters, Lena Hughes, Doris Kelly, Ellen Walker and Thressa Kelly.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, June 7, at Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle, with the Very Rev. Jean Paul Labrie officiating. Prior to the funeral, the Daughters of Isabella will be reciting the rosary 2 p.m. at the church. All are welcome to attend. A reception will be held after the services at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Committal services will be 3 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
