EAST MACHIAS – Raymond H. Geel, 91, passed away peacefully May 28, 2012, surrounded by family. He was born in 1920 in East Machias.
He dedicated his life to his country, family and friends. After serving in the Navy during World War II Raymond returned to East Machias. Planting gardens to share with others was his passion. He cherished spending time with family and friends.
Raymond was predeceased by his parents, Ross and Gladys (Holmes) Geel; and brother, Harold R. Geel. He is survived by his children, Tina (Geel) Michaud, David Barrett, Linda Rich and Susan Sexton-Falzarano and their families, including 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and his nephews, Tony and Terry Geel and their families.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at Jacksonville Cemetery, Route 191. After the service there will be a celebration of life at the home of Susan Sexton-Falzarano, 489 Hadley Lake Road, East Machias. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Civil Air Patrol, P.O. Box 515, Machias, ME 04654 or to a charity of choice.
