SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Police say a dead whale has washed ashore on one of southern Maine’s most popular swimming beaches.

The Maine Sunday Telegram reports that the whale was found Sunday on Pine Point Beach in Scarborough. A dead Minke whale washed up on rocks near Two Lights State Park in Cape Elizabeth last month.

It is not known what type of whale came ashore at Pine Point Beach.

      1. Not to say that those things don’t cause mortality, but sometimes the whales just get old or sick like any other animal.  Whoever is in charge of the necropsy can probably provide an answer as to the cause.

  1. Wow , a real live mystery !!
    An unknown type of whale.
That will make the record books for sure.
    very exciting times.
And we thought we knew it all.

  2. GEEZE…This is two whales. I think someone is driving golf balls into the Gulf of Maine.

  3. Between the BP oil spill disaster and Fukushima nuclear disaster that the press and everyone else tried to sweep under the rug, Oh not to mention the tons and tons of trash dumped into our ocean everyday this is going to be a scene replayed everywhere. There are Dead ocean mammals washing up on shores everywhere. Our Ocean’s are toxic disasters.

  4. This was obviously caused by the Navy’s sonar testing and any minute you will also see a Mermaid swimming along side with tears streaming down her face:(
