BELFAST, Maine — A California man who goes by the moniker Pro Me Thius was arrested Monday evening by Belfast police who discovered that he is a fugitive from justice.

Detective Sergeant Bryan Cunningham said Tuesday that he did not know why Thius, 50, of North Hollywood, was wanted by the Los Angeles Police Department.

An LAPD official said that Thius is wanted for loitering, but may have other active charges against him that she was not able to share with the media.

The California man first raised eyebrows in Belfast when he asked at the Belfast Fire Department if he could store his belongings behind the Route 3 fire station.

“The fire station thought that was a little weird,” Cunningham said.

Officials there contacted police. Officers asked for his identification and then ran his name through the National Crime Information Center.

After checking with police officials in California, Belfast officers learned that Thius has an outstanding warrant for extradition.

He was taken to the Waldo County Jail in Belfast to be booked, and will be held in police custody in Maine until California police make arrangements to have him returned, Cunningham said.

    1. I was thinking the same thing that extradition for loitering doesn’t sound right to me. Maybe they mean loitering with the body of the person he killed.

    1.  Mia, the LAPD official as much as admitted that there are other charges they prefer not to share with the media.  Mr. Thius could demand a local hearing on those other charges, but I’m betting he won’t.  LA has an outstanding warrant for this man, and is willing to extradite.  End of sequence, unless Mr. Thius protests.

  1. Next thing you know, he’ll be jay-walking. He better watch out for ticks behind that station….

  2. Sounds like Joe Friday and Bill Gannon are still running a tight ship on the LAPD. They always get their man. Even if it just for loitering. The LAPD must have solved ALL their other crimes and now have time to focus on this guy.

  3. I bet he’s a suspect in something major if they are going to extradite over loitering.  Possibly drug dealing.

  4. PROMETHEUS was the Titan god of forethought and crafty counsel who was entrusted with the task of moulding mankind out of clay.  This guy does not seem like a Greek God to me.

  5. If he were being extradited due to loitering on the complete opposite side of the country I would have to laugh…Was the loitering charge just so humorous that they don’t want to share his other charges…because I don’t really see why they can’t just state what they are :)

  6. If you call being chained to a rock and having an eagle eat your liver loitering  then I guess Cousin Pro is guilty. If his attorney is named Heracles he’ll get off.
