DEERFIELD, N.H. — New Hampshire police say a 9-year-old girl was seriously hurt in an accident in which her father drove their pickup truck off the road and struck a tree. He was accused of driving while intoxicated.

Police said the pickup swerved on Route 107 in Deerfield on Sunday and struck a tree on the passenger’s side.

They arrested 30-year-old Bradford Gannon of Rochester. He said he swerved to avoid a deer.

The girl was hospitalized in Boston; her condition wasn’t immediately known Tuesday.

Police said Gannon has two previous OUI convictions and had been out on bail on a OUI arrest in Maine. He is being held on $10,000 bail. It was not known if he had a lawyer.

  1. The mother bears some responsibility here…what on earth would possess a mother to allow a child to get into a vehicle with someone who can’t refrain from drinking and driving?  Clearly the father is a complete tool and one would think that the mother has figured that out by now.  Poor kid…I hope she is okay and recovers completely and that her parents smarten the heck up.

    1.  I agree with you, IF the mother is in the picture. It doesn’t say anything about the whereabouts of her in the article. Maybe, for some unknown reason, the father has custody. Then, there is nobody else to share the blame.

  2. So… how many times do you need to be arrested for OIU/DUI before you license is revoked for good?
