SACO, Maine — A local man is facing domestic violence charges after police say he pushed his girlfriend during an argument on Friday.
Daryn Plante, 43, was arrested at his Tall Pines Drive home just after 1:30 a.m., according to Deputy Chief Jeff Holland.
Holland said Plante and the woman were arguing over family matters, prompting Plante to shove her. The deputy chief said the woman did not require medical attention.
Plante was cooperative with police when they were sent to the scene, Holland said. He was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault, a Class D felony. He was later released from the police station on $500 cash bail.
Plante is due in court June 27.

Prosecute. Esp once you’ve verified she didn’t lay an unloving hand on him.
Don’t misinterpret, what this guy did was wrong, but am I noticing a double standard when it comes to domestic violence here in Maine? This guy shoves his girlfriend, released on $500. The woman yesterday busts a beer glass over her boyfriend’s head and gets bailed on $100. That does not seem to be fair and equal.
Yes all domestic violence is bad but I agree on the double standards too! My husband and I were fighting a couple years ago while drinking and I called the cops just to have him removed. When the cops showed up they asked us both what happened and they asked why my husband had scratch marks on his face. I replied that I attacked him for pining me to the bed so arrest me. The cop was like no no we don’t need to do that. Of course I was glad but if that were the other way around he would have been cuffed without a doubt! Needless to say no more alcohol in this house anymore!!
It is so sad the violence that we see now compared to 20 years ago. Why people feel the need to harm others, especially children is mind boggling.
That is it exactly, it is not the amount of violence that has changed, it is the amount we see. Domestic violence just gets reported now more than it ever has. There was just as much 20 years ago, it just didn’t get reported so we didn’t “see” it.
