EAGLE LAKE – Mary Jane Fournier, 99, died peacefully June 2, 2012, at an Eagle Lake health care facility. She was born May 4, 1913, in Wallagrass, the daughter of Cyprien and Marie (Marin) Labbe.

Mary Jane worked for WT Grant, Fort Kent, for many years until their closing. Later she received her nurse’s aide certification and worked in Eagle Lake for numerous years. She was a member of Ladies of St. Anne, Eagle Lake and Wallagrass, and she loved cross-country skiing, which she did until the age of 84. Mary Jane also enjoyed dancing and cooking, especially her fudge. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Her surviving relatives include her son, Roger and his wife, Patricia Fournier, of Wallagrass; three daughters, Sylvia and her husband, Richard Soucy, of West Melburne, Fla., Rena Michaud of Biddeford and Verna St. Peter of Bangor; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Sylvio Fournier, in 1970; one infant son, Lawrence Fournier; two brothers, Ralph and Roland Labbe; and five sisters, Veronica Labbe, Vitaline Labbe, Irene Gagnon, Loulia Daigle and Madelaine Labbe.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, June 11, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eagle Lake. Committal service will be afterward at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Wallagrass. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of Aroostook, P.O. Box 688, Caribou, ME 04736. Funeral services are being conducted by Daigle Funeral Home, 14 Main St., Fort Kent.
