BELFAST, Maine — City police are hoping for a little help in the lost-and-found department as they look for the owners of a safe and a piece of men’s jewelry.
A Belfast Police Department officer on Thursday morning was able to recover an empty metal safe that recently had been spotted by some boaters in the Passagassawakeag River underneath the Route 1 bridge.
The black safe is about two feet high and is missing its door, said Detective Sergeant Bryan Cunningham.
“We’d like to know where it came from,” he said. “I’m sure it’s evidence of a crime somewhere.”
The other found item is a piece of men’s jewelry which was discovered Tuesday in Belfast City Park. No further description was shared.
If anyone has information about the safe or the jewelry, they are asked to contact the police at 338-2420.
