BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor woman was arrested after an alleged shoplifting spree Wednesday at the Airport Mall on Union Street.

Cassandra Hurst, 22, first came to the attention of police after loss prevention personnel at the Hannaford supermarket saw her conceal $80 worth of cosmetics and go by the registers without paying for them, Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey said Friday, citing a police report.

Hurst was detained at the supermarket until police arrived and charged her with theft, Rumsey said. Police charged Hurst with two more counts of theft after finding $10 worth of merchandise from Ocean State Job Lot and goods valued at $4 from the Dollar Tree in Hurst’s possession.

Hurst, who was taken to Penobscot County Jail after her arrest, is out on bail.

  1. Seriously $80 worth of cosmetics? I don’t even own $20 worth of make up, she must really need it. And who steals from the dollar store she must have really been down and out.

    1. I know, I’d probably feel bad for her if it wasn’t make-up…at least the deodorant thief was just trying to stay clean!
