RANGELEY, Maine — An 82-year-old New York City man drowned Sunday after he went swimming off the end of the dock at his summer home in Rangeley, the Maine Warden Service said Monday.

Anthony Schulte was swimming in Cupsuptic Lake and didn’t resurface, according to a press release. His wife, Elizabeth, called 911 and the Rangeley Fire Department and the Maine Warden Service responded.

Schulte’s body was found in about 15 feet of water by a civilian boater. Personnel brought him to shore and attempted CPR, but Schulte was pronounced dead at the scene.
