LUBEC, Maine — The culinary carnival that is “The Great Food Truck Race” quickly blew into and out of Lubec Monday evening, selling food briefly before packing up for an event at Quoddy Head State Park.
Taping for the third season of the Food Network’s reality TV show began on May 1 in Long Beach, Calif., with eight teams serving up their street food menus as they traveled cross-country. At each stop, the team with the lowest sales was eliminated from the competition. At stake is $100,000, which includes $50,000 cash and a food truck worth $50,000.
The two finalists in the competition are three Jersey girls, whose Nonna’s Kitchenette serves Italian food, and Seoul Sausage, a team of Korean foodies from Los Angeles.
Lubec Town Administrator John Sutherland said the two food trucks and their TV production crew entourage arrived in Lubec late Monday afternoon. They set up shop for a few hours along Water Street, selling food briefly before packing up and heading to a series finale event staged amid the backdrop at West Quoddy Lighthouse.
Which team won the competition is being kept under wraps. The series will air Aug. 19 on the Food Network.
For a small town Lubec offers some excellent food.My wife and I have enjoyed Cohill’s and the Water Street Tavern-as well Uncle Kippy’s. The service was friendly and the food very good at all three. Lubec and the entire area is a hidden gem.
Was thinking the same thing. We cruise down there from camp quite a bit.
You must have been over to the seafood place on Campobello-Family Fisheries. I’ve been there at least five times. Excellent food with way too yummy deserts.
