WINSLOW, Maine — An Augusta man who police say was behaving suspiciously at a local fast food establishment is facing drug charges.
Derek Gauthier, 33, was allegedly snorting an undisclosed substance in the bathroom at McDonald’s on Tuesday, according to Winslow police Chief Jeff Felanson.
After police were called, Gauthier drove across the street to a Cumberland Farms, where police spotted him inside the store, Felanson said.
When officers asked to search Gauthier, he was cooperative and admitted he had a needle and a spoon in his pocket, the chief said.
Gauthier was arrested and charged with possession of scheduled drugs for the residue on the spoon, operating a vehicle after his license was suspended, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia for the spoon and needle, Felanson said.
Gauthier was taken to the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta where he remains pending a court appearance.

May I ask how did McDonalds knew he was snorting in the bathroom? Surveillance cameras maybe. What do you think of that ladies?
I hope for the sake of anyone using a McDonalds or public restroom, someone better say he come out of the bathroom yelling and holding drugs in his hands, I am hoping this is yet another story lacking details and was just rushed out so we could all be scared of a McDonalds.

He drove across the street,Hmm?Must of had a buzz im sure.check me if im wrong,but arent they missing a charge here?what if he would of ran over someones kid or something in his travel.Then they’d remember that charge…Uno…It blows me away,the guy that gets stopped,the smell of fresh burnt pot rolling out of his car,eyes are all bloodshot,a search reveil’s a bag of pot.and all’s he gets is a possesion charge.This cat has fineable offenses,and most likely,with the best court appointed attorny money can buy.they’ll drop all the charges but one..he win’s folk’s
When I’m in the bathroom @ Micky Dee’s I try to avoid breathing… can’t imagine snorting anything there.
