MONMOUTH, Maine — Three men are behind bars Thursday after drug enforcement agents raided a meth lab, according to police.

Arrested were James Renaud, 33, and Robert Dumont, 28, both of Monmouth and Brandon Proctor, 42, of Oxford, according to Darrell Crandall of the MDEA.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said earlier Wednesday MDEA authorities were tipped off to the criminal activity Thursday afternoon on the Cressey Road property.

Drug agents were on the scene much of Thursday afternoon, collecting numerous evidence despite the humid weather conditions, Randall said. Two MDEA agents and a Monmouth firefighter were treated at the scene after overheating while wearing their heavy, protective gear.

All three suspects are facing a charge of trafficking in methamphetamine, a Class B felony, Crandall said. They were transported to the Kennebec County Jail.

Thursday’s incident marks the 10th time Maine authorities have dealt with a meth lab this year, McCausland said.

  1. Long a problem in rural America, meth labs have finally arrived in Maine.  After a few batches of meth, the house becomes uninhabitable from the toxins  left behind.

If the labs are here the usage rates are going to climb.  That meth is some bad stuff.  We are lucky to have been spared this long.
