WARREN, Maine — The Democratic candidate for the Maine House seat that represents the Warren area has withdrawn and endorsed the independent in the race.
Shelby Chadwick of Warren announced Friday she has withdrawn from the Maine House District 49 race.
“After great thought, and despite my truest intentions, I’ve decided I could not fulfill the role in the next two years to the best of my ability as your elected official,” Chadwick stated in a letter to the Bangor Daily News. “Circumstances in my own life have changed recently and at this point in time, I feel that I cannot continue the race as my time and energy needs to be focused towards my career as I continue to pursue a path in public education.”
Chadwick will support independent House candidate Jeffrey Evangelos of Friendship.
“Jeff has incredible drive and a passion to bring forth positive changes to Maine and to our communities. He is a hard working individual who has been active in our communities throughout the years. I am so hopeful that members of our party and our district can put their full support behind Jeff,” she stated in the letter.
Evangelos said Sunday he appreciated the support from Chadwick and that he plans to work hard in Augusta to help end what he said was the obstructionism and gridlock that has paralyzed politics in Augusta.
Retired banker and educator Robert Carter of Warren is the Republican candidate for the House seat. Evangelos and Carter will be on the Nov. 6 general election ballot.
The seat has been held for the past eight years by Republican Rep. Wes Richardson of Warren. Richardson was barred from seeking a fifth consecutive term in the House because of the state’s term limits law.
House District 49 consists of Warren, Friendship, Cushing and Union.

There is no “paralyzing political gridlock” in Augusta. Laws are being passed, budgets examined and streamlined, and departments & agencies overhauled. Augusta is finally moving in the right direction, after 30+ years of spend-a-holic administrations and legislatures.

All this shows is the Maine Democrats cannot find candidates for rural Maine, mostly because THEY DO NOT CARE FOR RURAL MAINE. Look at their Senate candidate and look at the seats they currently hold, all are city folk.
