BANGOR, Maine — A 17-year-old boy took his grandmother’s vehicle without permission early Wednesday morning and was later arrested, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday.
“This kid took his grandma’s car and she wanted to press charges,” the sergeant said.
The boy’s grandmother called police at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday and they caught up with him shortly thereafter.
The teenager, who was not identified because he is a juvenile, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Good job Gramma for pressing charges! Sometimes, as much as we want to brush this stuff off as ‘kids being kids’, tough love is what they need!
If I had done something like this at age 17 my grandma would not have called the police…..but, after my parents got thru with me I might have wished she had…..Crazy…..
You are not kidding!! My grandparents definitely would not have called the police but my parents would be in jail today after they got done with me. Many a bad decision was thwarted on my end by thinking of facing my parents after I was caught.
Some will remember Chris Ruby’s driving School in Bangor. During a driver training session in 1968 we pulled up to an intersection on Union street near “the base”. The 15 year old gentlemen alone in the Lincoln beside us was in our class, but not scheduled to drive that day. I wish that I had a picture of them as both cars left the intersection. He graduated with us-perhaps with some pleading from his parents. If that happened today, we’d be commenting on it in this forum. Times change.
wow…this young man might actually have a chance of becoming a responsible adult! Way to go Grammie!!
Way to go Grandma! This young man may have a chance of bcoming a productive adult. Thanks Bangor PD for catching the thuglet.
