WALDO, Maine — Delilah might have gotten away with it, but Mindy Lavoie didn’t.
The 35-year-old Waldo woman was arrested this week after allegedly shaving her boyfriend’s head while he was sleeping, according to police.
A neighbor concerned about the screaming and yelling she heard from next door called police at about 8:30 p.m. Monday to report a domestic fight, said Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
Responding officers found an upset man outside the residence. Thomas A. Thomas, who also was arrested after the events of the evening, said he had gone to sleep and when he woke up, somebody had cut his hair.
Trafton said he didn’t know how long the 36-year-old Thomas’ hair was before the unasked-for haircut.
When police talked to Lavoie, she told them he had passed out after drinking, and she was mad.
“She said if he ever came home drunk again, she’d shave his head, so she did,” Trafton said.
The couple got into a physical altercation after Thomas woke up, he said.
Officers charged Lavoie with domestic violence assault and charged Thomas with violation of the conditions of release from a prior offense.

He must really have been dead drunk if he didn’t realize his head was being shaved.
That will show him…never ever be the first to pass out in a hostile environment…ever.
Must have been a bit hair-raising!
apparently not
There are 12 step programs for this kind of stuff.
it will grow back its just hair think of it this way dont have to pay for a hair cut so you will have more money for beer
I’m still trying to wrap my head around his name being Thomas Thomas
Never trust a man with two first names, especially if he has a bad haircut.
He was named after a train….
tom, tom
Its just hair! What a waste of taxpayer money!!!!! Domestic violence assult? Get real!!!! How about you charge men and women for REAL domestic violence.
so, cutting hair is considered a ‘
domestic violence assault’ charge! hmmm
Ridiculous charge and waste of law enforcement’s time and resources. This matter is scheduled for hearing thereby wasting more time in court. Judges and the Clerk’s Office have enough to do without processing this foolishness.
She did warn him…I think it’s funny…This time I am on the female’s
side…Chuckle, Chuckle…
I gotta agree with you! She did warn him….
That is ridiculous! ….she threatened him!
If a man did it to his drunk wife, they would be screaming about how big of a domestic abuser he is.
“A woman’s hair is her crowning glory.” Besides, isn’t a guy shaving his head all the rage now? :)
Look at the bright side, well not directly at it, the sun glaring off an oily head is blinding, he’ll absorb more vitamin D, and he’ll feel cooler.
Oh the trauma! Look at the bright side. Now he can apply for SSDI due to PTSD.
and he likely will
This actually peeves me a little. I do have PTSD from childhood abuse. I did apply. The process takes many months and it’s emotionally draining when you actually have PTSD. I didn’t get it.
I’d like to think he wouldn’t get it either.
I didn’t mean to make lite of PTSD, only some of the lame reasons that people use it. It’s one of those disabilities that the level of is hard to quantify. I wouldn’t think that all the applications for SSDI would equal the truly debilitating effects of spending a year overseas watching your buddies get blown up. I meant it only as a light hearted critique on some of lame reasons that are being thrown around in an effort to not work anymore.
Why was the girlfriend arrested? He was forewarned.
If he had shaved her head, even if he had ‘forewarned” her, would you be content with that?
Thinking along those lines myself. I’m female, have very long hair and just a few inches cut off without my consent would be traumatizing. Yes, it will grow back, but it would take me a couple of years. Why didn’t she just call the PD if drinking was a violation for conditions of release? Pass out on your couch, wake up in handcuffs.
Moral of the story, when a women tells you she is going to do something DO NOT DOUBT HER!
That is what I told my husband this morning when I heard this morning on the radio. I had a very good laugh and thought it was hilarious and now you can imagine he will be sleeping like a cat – with one eye open. As for the domestic assault charge is crazy its not like she beat him. There are so many real domestic assaults that the police fail to see but anyways. He got what he deserved after all she did warn him.
So where exactly is your line between “got what he deserved” and “domestic violence?” If it doesn’t draw blood or leave a bruise it’s ok?
cutting someone’s hair shouldn’t be classified as domestic violence sure it was not to his liking and this does mean that i can file domestic violence assault charges on my hair dresser because I don’t like the hair cut. he was warned ahead of time he come drunk he would have his shaved and that is what happened so that is what i meant by he got what he deserved.
So with that logic,if a woman spends more money than the budget allows and the husband shaves her head it’s alright if he warned her or is that domestic violence? I guess I’m asking if it ok to do this against a man is it ok to do the same to a woman?
who knows what i like to know what classifies as domestic assault. what i thought it was along needs some clarifying.
Fingernails and toenails grow back too, should she be allowed to pull one off cause “she warned him?” As for your bad haircut, good or bad you still consented to the haircut so it isn’t the same thing
When is the last time a hair cut caused the same pain as a ripped out toenail? Apples and oranges……
Ok, why was HE arrested? She assaulted him!
This story made my day!
Would love to see pictures of this one!!! :)
If there ever was a story from around here that would be Jay Leno material, this is it!
Word of the day”Dysfunctional”………
for all of you questioning the assault and domestic violence charge IF YOU HAD READ the ENTIRE article it says this at the Bottom…
The couple got into a physical altercation after Thomas woke up, he said.
Officers charged Lavoie with domestic violence assault and charged Thomas with violation of the conditions of release from a prior offense.
Thank you. Saved me from saying it!
