MILLINOCKET – Ronald E. Tinkham died peacefully June 29, 2012, at his home. He was born Oct. 25, 1951.

Ron graduated from Stearns High School in 1970. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1970, stationed in Boston on the Sherman, later on the Isle of Shoals Light House. He married his high school sweetheart, Louise Tapley, Oct. 25, 1971. He worked at Great Northern for 24 years.

Ron is survived by his wife of 40 years; son, Ronald Jr. and wife, Karen, and grandsons, Andrew and Nicholas, of Gorham; son, Shawn and wife, Jennifer, and grandchildren, Mallory and Truett, of Plano, Texas; mother, Ernestine of Florida; mother-in-law, Irene Tapley; sister, Dianne and George Bilodeau of Cedar Lake and Florida; brothers, Robert and Mary of Millinocket and David and son, Jeremy; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Mark and Lisa McVey of Brewer, William Kelley of Florida and Phillis Bither of Millinocket. He was predeceased by father, Joseph Tinkham; father-in-law, Wallace Tapley Sr.; and special friend, Orin Bither.

Graveside service with military honors will be held 10 a.m. July 17 at Millinocket Cemetery. Donations may be sent in his memory to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462. Direct Cremation of Maine.
