BELMONT – Wilma Bott “Elizabeth” “Billie” Hieronymus went to rest June 29, 2012, after a courageous bout with cancer. Elizabeth was born March 14, 1947, in Long Branch, N.J., to William F. and Doris M. Bott.
She was a graduate of Menlo Atherton High School and Scripts College of California in 1965 and 1969, respectively. Elizabeth lived in Boston and worked at Harvard University for several years prior to receiving her Master of Business Administration from Boston University in 1981. She was an analyst in mortgages, real estate and auditing for Unum Corporation until retiring in 1999 to Belmont. While working for Unum, Elizabeth received the Chairman’s Award, a most prestigious achievement given to only three employees of the entire corporation. Elizabeth was an avid gardener, adventurous traveler and voracious reader. She chaired the Art Festival for Belfast Senior College, where she served as secretary of the college between 2004 and 2009. Elizabeth founded the “Old Fashioned Christmas” event in Belfast. Elizabeth brought a true sense of joy to all she met and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Predeceasing Elizabeth was her father, William F. Bott. Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Leonard C. Hieronymus; her mother, Doris Bott; and two sisters, Phyllis A. DeSalvo and Betsy Chapman. Also surviving is a cousin, Nancy Schoeberlein; a brother-in-law, Salvatore DeSalvo; several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Elizabeth will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, the family home, located at 16 Willensview Lane, Belmont. Directions to the home may be found attached to her obituary on the Riposta Funeral Home website at www.ripostafh.com. The ceremony will be held outside in a wooded area. In lieu of flowers, the Hieronymus family suggests memorials be made in Elizabeth’s name to Center for Maine Contemporary Art at www.cmcanow.org or Belfast Senior College. Care for Elizabeth and her family has been entrusted to Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
