BELFAST, Maine — A Searsmont man ended up having to go to a Bangor hospital with a broken bone near his eye Friday night after getting involved in a scuffle at a Belfast bar.
Derek Greeley, 29, apparently got into an argument with another patron about 10:30 p.m. at the Front Street Pub. The two were separated by employees and Greeley had left the pub by the time police arrived, according to Detective Sgt. Bryan Cunningham of the Belfast Police Department.
But then Greeley reportedly decided to go back to the bar to finish the argument, Cunningham said, and an officer saw him walking to the Front Street Pub with two male friends running after him to get him to change his mind.
Greeley and the other man looked as if they were starting to fight again and an officer got in between the two to stop them.
“[The officer] told [Greeley] he was under arrest,” Cunningham said. “Mr. Greeley resisted and fought with the officer.”
Ultimately, Greeley was arrested, charged with disorderly conduct, assault and refusing to submit to arrest or detention and was taken to Waldo County Jail in Belfast to be booked. But at the jail, he sneezed, which exacerbated an eye injury he had suffered sometime during the bar fight. He told jail officials he had been “sucker-punched” by another man before police arrived.
Greeley had suffered a broken bone beneath his eye socket, Cunningham said. He was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center to be treated for the injury.
The incident is under investigation, according to the police.

Change the name, add more food service items to the menu, and it’s still “the Lookout” pub.
That’s because people who choose to go in there need to “Lookout” for that sucker punch.
Ya, imaginary sucker punches ;) He was charged with assualt, not the other party because he started the fight as shown on the videotape from the bar.
Sounds like you might have inside information such as access to videotape of the alleged imaginary sucker punch. Do tell. Does the bar video their patrons as they consume adult beverages? Outrageous.
Yes, they do. I was there- the police watched the videotape and told both parties what they saw.
It’s going to put the movie theatre right out of business. Who needs hollywood when you have bar videotape showing the good, the bad and the ugly every night?
Pubs don’t punch people. People punch people!!
Still under investigation-sounds like maybe charges coming soon against the other parties involved
