SWANVILLE, Maine — A woman schemed to have two men rob her friend early Sunday morning, according to police.

Cierra Cassidy, 20, of Belfast was visiting her friend at her Nickerson Road residence at about 1 a.m. when an unknown man had knocked on the door, forced entry to the home and wrestled the victim’s purse away from her before fleeing the house. The purse contained both credit cards and prescription drugs.

The victim called police to report the crime, and responding officials from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office interviewed the two women who were home at the time of the robbery.

Although Cassidy initially acted as if she was shocked by the robbery, police said that they could tell she wasn’t.

“The deputies recognized right away that the Cassidy girl was being deceitful,” Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton said Monday. “It became obvious pretty quickly to the deputies that she wasn’t telling the truth.”

Police learned that Cassidy, Shawn Perito, 18, of Belfast and Jonathan McCue, 23, of Belfast had planned together to commit the robbery, according to a press release issued by the sheriff’s office.

“Ms. Cassidy had visited with the homeowner, knowing the robbery would take place,” it said. “Mr. McCue drove Mr. Perito to the residence and Mr. Perito entered the home and struggled with the homeowner to get her purse.”

McCue was charged last fall by police after he allegedly attempted to siphon heating oil from the home of a recently deceased woman.

All three were charged with robbery and taken to Waldo County Jail in Belfast to be booked.

A teenage girl also was in the getaway vehicle. She was questioned and released, police said.

More charges may be pending for that girl after the investigation is passed on to the district attorney’s office.

    1. Exactly! That little POS was supposed to be in jail for burglaries he committed. Guess he got time off for good behavior but now the good behavior is over. Worthless losers.

      1. Nothing screams immature more like spelling ‘n’, ‘u’ and ‘wit’ while making the duckface in your profile picture.

  4. This is what the economy is bringing kids to do these days. It is what they grow up learning about watching the news, and just in every day life. They learn from there mistakes, we’ll some of them do. Judging them on here will not do anyone any good, as will making rude comments. The girl should not have set it up like she had, and treated a friend like that, and maybe it would not have happened. weather they get locked up for life, or they get slapped on the wrist, it is all up to the courts. If the teenage girl had no part in it, i do not see why further charges should be brought against her. Even if she was a passenger in the car, she did not get out, not have any involvement into it.

  5. I keep getting drawn to this story, although I do not know anyone involved, I think these kids have grown up without values and any type of work ethic.  They are out when working people are asleep and going to work the next day, not setting up their friends  I hope they will be   given some type of sentence that  will help them become people that can take care of themselves and not just three more people that working people have to take care of.
