STANDISH – Stanley E. Wallace Jr., 75, formerly of Newburgh of 45 years, died Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Gorham House, Gorham. He was born Dec. 21, 1936, in Gardiner, a son of Stanley Sr. and Celia H. Jordan Wallace.
Stanley was a graduate of Gardiner High School, class of 1954. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran with service during the Korean War. Stanley was a master electrician and business manager for the electrical union International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 1253 for more than 30 years. He enjoyed playing golf, racing stock cars and his granddaughters. He was able to take a trip of a lifetime with his wife, Joanne, to Alaska in 2001, lasting four months. Stan and his wife were longtime members of Hermon Baptist Church.
Stanley was predeceased by half brother, Robert L. Williams, in 2008; and parents, Stanley Sr., in 1968, and Celia, in 2003. He is survived by his wife of 52 1/2 years, Joanne Trunnell Wallace of Standish; two sons, Charles Wallace and wife, Sharon, and their two daughters, Megan and Amanda, of Buxton, and Stephen Wallace and wife, Christine, and their two daughters, Courtney and Lauren, of Standish; two brothers, Lugene A. Wallace of Augusta, and Earl L. Wallace and wife, Patricia, of Gardiner; sister-in-law, Shirley Williams of Litchfield; several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held 2-4 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday. Private burial with military honors will be held at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hermon Baptist Church, 2496 Route 2, Hermon, ME 04401.
