ALFRED, Maine — A Maine man accused of causing the death of his 2½-month-old son has pleaded not guilty to murder, manslaughter, aggravated assault and assault.

Court documents say Gordon Collins-Faunce of Arundel told police that he grabbed his son, Ethan Henderson, squeezed the infant’s head and threw him hard into a chair. He told police the baby was crying and that he was frustrated.

On Tuesday, he entered his plea in Superior Court in Alfred.

The Portland Press Herald says the murder and manslaughter charges apply to the injuries that caused Ethan’s death, while the assault and aggravated assault apply to earlier alleged attacks.

Collins-Faunce was arrested on May 6 while the child was in the hospital. The baby died May 8 after being taken off life support.

    1. Simple Kelly, this is all part of the whole PLEA thing.  His lawyer gets time now to try and talk the prosecution into a shorter sentence.  Sick SICk SICK!!!

  1. Dont worry folks…Its just a scumbag defense lawyer advising him to plead not guilty so he can squeeze more money out of the state or whoever is paying for his useless defense.

  2. Ok so who wants to take bets on how much time this shmuck gets?  Let’s see how do they usually figure it?  Something like:  30 years with all but 10 suspended + time off for good behavior + taking into consideration his young age + the fact the kid just probably bounced wrong + time already served…. Collins-Faunce should get what?  2 years?  I hope he gets all 30 but I won’t hold my breath.

  3. I’d let him plea down to manslaughter if he’d be voluntarily willing to get neutered as part of the punishment… this man should never reproduce again.

    1. What is wrong with you “I’d let him plea down” He took the life from his own flesh and blood. WOW

    1. Better yet …let’s not waste good space in the prison system, let’s just squeeze his head and remove his life support.

  4. First off, part of his sentence should require that he get a surgical procedure to prevent him from producing any more children. Secondly, he’s already admitted to using force on a defenseless baby. What more proof does the court system need?! Not Guilty? GIVE ME A BREAK. If I were the lawyer, I would have not allowed a NOT GUILTY plea. Thats insulting to that baby that died and the family.

  5. Oh and he was frustrated? Thats why he hurt the baby bad enough that it died? Think how frustrating it is to that babies Mom that she no longer has her baby to cuddle with, to love, and to not watch grow up. Think about that poor babys funeral. I have attended a funeral for a baby and its heartwrenching. That casket is so small, its sureal. And this guy said he is NOT GUILTY? Lets see, he threw the baby. Caused it to suffer injuries which caused it do die, and he figures he is not guilty? UNREAL
