PORTLAND, Maine — Six people are behind bars Tuesday after the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Maine Drug Enforcement agents conducted a sting that reportedly involved numerous dealers throughout the county.

The sheriff’s office said in a release the arrests resulted from a 12-month investigation of drug trafficking in rural areas throughout Cumberland County.

The suspects arrested allegedly were involved in the sale of heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine and prescription narcotics such as oxycodone.

Arrested were the following: David Willette, 37, of Naples; Joseph Agostino, 26, of Casco; Paul Agostino, 58, of Harrison; Mark Glantz, 48, of Windham; Kevin Edwards, 29, of Harrison; and Norman Hightower, 30, of South Paris.

Numerous telephone and online tips aided authorities in the investigation, according to the press release. Windham and Bridgton police officers also participated in the sting.
