JONESPORT and GLENBURN – Gary L. Blount, 57, died June 30, 2012, in Glenburn, after a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 8, 1954, in Jonesport, son of Dewey and Ardess M. (Bryant) Blount.

Gary served with the U.S. Army for a brief period and enjoyed the time he spent at Hollywood Slots and Casino.

He is survived by his mother of Glenburn; girlfriend by whom he will be sadly missed, Susan White of Jonesport; four children, Gary Emerson, Royal Allen, Michael DeWitt and wife, April, and Misty DeWitt, all of Jonesport; grandchildren; three brothers, Stephen W. Blount and wife, Bonita, of Neenah, Wis., Jeffrey S. Blount and wife, Sun, of Colonial Heights, Va., Kevin W. Blount and girlfriend, Sue MacKenzie of Kenduskeag; two sisters, Debbie A. Little of Brewer, and Brenda L. Ireland of Glenburn and boyfriend, Clarence McGraw of Bangor; several nieces, nephews and cousins including a special great-nephew, TJ Ireland of Jonesport and a special niece, Melissa Emerson of Addison; and a special uncle, Breen Bryant of Columbia Falls. He will be remembered his best friend and “brother,” Dana Wright and wife, Linda, of Addison; and by his dog, Precious. He was predeceased by his father; and his dog, Tiny. Gary’s family gratefully thanks BAVN and Hospice of Eastern Maine for their excellent care.

A service honoring Gary’s life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 6, at Beals Wesleyan Church, 21 Elm St., Beals, with the Rev. George Woodward presiding.
