DEER ISLE – Alberta Elaine (Hutchinson) Dunham, 78, a lifetime resident of Hancock County, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012, in Blue Hill. Alberta was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Stonington, to Harold and Clermont (Bye) Hutchinson.
She grew up and made her own home in the Deer Isle and Stonington area. After her children were in school, Alberta worked at making wreathes at Christmas and also picked crab for 18 years. In her free time, she enjoyed fellowship with friends she made as a member of the island’s old Rebekah Lodge. Alberta will be remembered for her big hugs that she passed on to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Elmer “Bill” Dunham Jr.; sons, Charlie Peabody and his wife, Debra, and Kevin Peabody and former daughter-in-law, Wendy Peabody; daughters, Darlene Hardy and her husband, Neville, Mabel Robbins and her husband, George, Sharon Robbins and her husband, Edgar, Mary Curtis and her husband, Phil, Laurie Dammier and her husband, Bill, and Bonita Jones and her husband, Brian; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; niece, Sandra (Hutchinson) Cousins and her husband, Buddy; and two great-nieces. Alberta was predeceased by her parents; brother, Harold Jr.; baby, Dunham; and grandson, Robert Lewis Barter Jr.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Greenwood Cemetery, Oceanville. She will be missed by many. Rest in peace, Ma. Arrangements by Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Stonington.
