ORNEVILLE TOWNSHIP, Maine — Police are expected to release more information Monday about the investigation into a shooting on McCorrison Road that injured a 54-year-old man.
The Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department and the Maine State Police are continuing to investigate the incident, which took place Friday evening.
Police said it appears that an altercation occurred between Richard A. Bennett, 64, of Atkinson, and Blaine Leveille, 54, of Orneville. Leveille suffered a gunshot wound during the fight at 62 McCorrison Road and was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Hospital officials said Sunday afternoon that they have no information on Leveille’s condition.
Detectives were back on the scene Saturday and are conducting additional interviews.
State Police will continue to monitor Leveille’s condition and hope to speak to him at some point to get his account of what happened.
The initial call to police came into the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department shortly after 5 p.m. and deputies from the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

Hopefully he is going to be ok. His side of the story needs to be told.
I agree his side needs to be told but then we haven’t heard anyone’s side yet. We don’t even know if the man he was arguing with is the one that shot him. I’m sure they are working on getting more information and we will know soon. I hope he makes it and has a speedy recovery.
Somebody was ornery in Orneville.
To whom ever the Guest is, I would really like to know what you had to say as I am just reading this and your comment was removed. From the comments below I can just imagine. I will just put out there that I have been around Uncle Blaine for 31 years and no way have I have been concerned for my safety or the safety of my children. Uncle Blaine has a huge heart and would give you the last dollar in his pocket if he had it. Please if you have any more ignorant comments to make, I am his niece that has been sitting with him since we got the terrible call Friday night. So before you go making comments on the BDN come find me at EMMC and say them to me instead of bashing him on line. Thank you.
Like I said in a previous comment. There are two sides of a story and your uncle deserves to have his side told. It’s really easy to make comments in here without knowing the true facts. I hope your uncle recovers fully.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your uncle and family at this time.
