EASTPORT and LUBEC – Sheila Fernald Malloch, 86, passed away July 6, 2012, at her home, after a lengthy illness. Sheila was born Feb. 4, 1926, in Lubec, daughter of the late John Fernald and Delilah (Metcalf) Fernald Barker.

After graduating from Lubec High School, class of 1944, she worked briefly in Washington, D.C., before returning to Lubec. Sheila married Harold Malloch in 1952 and moved to Eastport, where they raised their family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harold Malloch; mother-in-law, Marion Malloch; father-in-law, Arthur Malloch; sister-in-law, Jean Morrison; sister, Marie Brown; brother, Ernest Fernald; and her stepfather, Vance Barker. Sheila is survived by her three sons, Gilbert Murphy and his wife, Alda, Scott Malloch and his wife, Ann, and Christian Malloch, all of Eastport; two sisters, Lorraine Farmer and Jane Chute of Lubec; two sisters-in-law, Jackie Malloch of Portland and Guelda Fernald of Lubec; three grandchildren, Michael Murphy of Westbrook, Andrew Murphy of Arlington, Vt., and Olivia Malloch of Orrington; and her great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Hannah, Liam and Samantha.

At her request there will be no funeral service. The family will hold a private committal service at a later date. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais and Eastport.
