SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A man wanted for murder in southern Maine has been arrested in New York state, according to police.

Tareek Hendricks, 31, formerly of Worcester, Mass., was arrested on Wednesday morning in Syracuse by U.S. marshals, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Hendricks had been wanted in connection with the death of Robert Stubbs, 40, at Stubbs’ Westbrook apartment in April 2011.

Westbrook and Maine State Police officials had been working with U.S. marshals in searching for Hendricks over the last 15 months, according to McCausland.

Two state troopers are en route to New York to bring Hendricks back to Maine to face trial, McCausland said.
