BANGOR, Maine — An argument between two transients led to a fight in front of the Bangor Fire Department on Main Street last week and one man being arrested, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday.

Daniel Roberts, 22, got into a fistfight with a 30-year-old male transient around 10 p.m. July 5, the sergeant said.

“There was a boxing match in the parking lot of the fire station,” Edwards said.

When Officers Josh Kuhn, Doug Smith, Chris Blanchard and Kevin Murphy arrived, “someone mentioned a knife and that is when this guy — Roberts — took off running,” the sergeant said.

Police chased Roberts up the street and eventually caught him and charged him with refusing to submit to arrest and disorderly conduct, Edwards said. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail and later released.

“No knife was located,” the sergeant said.
