WALTON-RABBITT

NORTH PORT, Fla. – Michael Alexander Walton-Rabbitt, 25, passed away April 12, 2012, in an auto accident, the victim of a drunk driver. He was born Sept. 29, 1986, in Latacunga, Ecuador, and moved to North Port, Fla., in 2005 from Cape Cod, Mass.

Michael was a cashier at Publix Supermarket, Murdock, Fla. He graduated from Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in 2005; graduated in 2009 from State College of Florida, summa cum laude, with an associate degree in applied science graphic design technology/print; and in 2011 he graduated, magna cum laude, with an associate degree in arts. He then transferred to the University of South Florida, where he was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business. Michael was a member of the International Honor Society. In 2004 Michael won the New England AAA poster contest with his highway safety poster against drunk driving, and later received the National Judges Award.

Survivors include his father and mother, Joseph Rabbitt and Jane Walton of North Port, Fla. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Irma Allen of Presque Isle; aunts, Deborah and husband, Butch Beaulieu, Bonnie and husband, Sam Martin, Jennifer and husband, Ron Gagnon, and Tracy Kinney; uncle, Jeffrey and wife, Linda Walton; and 11 cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Michelle, in 2001.

Memorial services were held April 20 at Edgewater United Methodist Church, Murdock, Fla. Donations in Michael’s memory may be made to Michael Walton-Rabbitt Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 381029, Murdock, FL 33938.
