BANGOR, Maine — Police have identified the man found unresponsive in Pickering Square early Tuesday morning and said he died from a “medical issue.”

Amos R. Dupray, 65, of Bangor was found unconscious about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday on his back in the middle of Pickering Square, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Wednesday.

“Bangor Fire emergency medical crews performed CPR on the man but those efforts were not successful,” Edwards said.

Dupray was pronounced dead at the square shortly afterward and the department’s Criminal Investigation Division assisted at the scene.

The medical examiner was called and “deemed that [Duprey] died from a medical issue and that his passing is not suspicious,” Edwards said.

Dupray had an extensive medical history, Mark Belserene of the medical examiner’s office said Wednesday.

Police did not say why Dupray was downtown and where he had been before having the medical problem.

What does it matter to us?  The poor guy is gone.

    1. Because of the insane number of homeless people that live in that park. There are constant issues with them. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn’t but that’s probably what they meant.

  2. Many people miss you Amos. You were kind hearted and loved by many. You always brightened our day.  I pray that you are happy and with Jesus now.

  3. Amos lived at the N.O.E. (freese’s) building. He was within 100 yards from his bedroom. Thats why he was downtown.
