BANGOR, Maine — A water main break on Union Street slowed traffic in a busy part of the city on Thursday morning.

Bangor Water District General Manager Kathy Moriarty said the break took place in the area between Hammond and Third Streets around 4 a.m.

“We don’t know exactly what caused the water break,” said Moriarty.

Traffic has been reduced to one lane in the area of the break, Moriarty said. Crews are still working to fix the problem, which Moriarty believes should be resolved by 3 p.m.
