CAMDEN, Maine — Police say new measures at a frequently robbed Rite Aid stopped a man from getting away with stolen drugs Saturday.

A man in a hooded sweatshirt with a bandana covering his face walked into the pharmacy and demanded drugs on Saturday, according to Detective Curt Andrick at Camden Police Department.

“Due to the enhanced security measures already in place at Rite Aid, the suspect was not able to obtain any drugs at that time,” Andrick said.

The Elm Street store has been robbed several other times in the past year.

The man left the Route 1 storefront on foot and is still on the loose. Police are asking for help from the public finding the 30-40 year old man who is about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, according to police. Witnesses told police he was wearing jeans and work boots.

Anyone with information is asked to call 236-3030.

  1. a 30 to 40 year old man wearing jeans and work boots… I SAW THAT GUY! And 500 other people looking just like that.

    1. and what about the employees who just work there? Their lives are at risk along with any customer who may be in the store during a robbery.

      1. You are right of course.  Pardon my flippant remark.  I’d like to add this though; the lives of those working for Rite Aid are indeed at risk because but more because of the low pay, no healthcare, and ever changing schedule that employer they work for provides, or doesn’t provide, as the case may be.  On top of this threat to an employee’s health all those who rely upon these workers are also at risk, the children, the spouses, and the extended families who must try and live on sub-poverty wages without healthcare.
