BANGOR – Constance Pendergast Sonthoff, 81, died July 20, 2012, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Aug. 21, 1930, in Stoneham, Mass., daughter of Frank M. Pendergast and Dorothy (Ricker) Pendergast.

Connie graduated from Melrose High School and Hickox Secretarial School. She worked at CBS Radio and TV, Boston and New York City, and as a personnel assistant at Brandeis University. On Nov. 11, 1965, she married Herbert G. Sonthoff. Later she and Herb moved to Belfast, where she was a secretary at Crosby Junior High School, District Court and Moser and Mailloux. In 1985 Connie and Herb moved to Waldo. Connie will be remembered for her willingness to help others, her wonderful sense of humor and her culinary skill. Perhaps Brandeis University summed up her best, proclaiming “Her infectious high spirit and love of people will be sorely missed by those whose days were brightened by her presence.”
