BELFAST, Maine — A 23-year-old Belfast man whom police say raped a 13-year-old girl was arrested Monday and charged with gross sexual assault and incest.
Robert Dawson’s wife found messages on the social networking website MySpace that she found concerning, according to a report from the Belfast Police Department. The woman contacted the victim’s mother and then the matter was reported to police.
Dawson, who is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs more than 300 pounds, allegedly admitted to having consensual sex with the girl but said it was her fault, according to police.
Police have interviewed the victim, who is having a tough time, according to the report.
Dawson has been taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, where he remains held on bail set at $2,000 cash or $10,000 surety, according to a Waldo County Jail official.
Her fault? Lock him up and throw away the key!
Throw away the key? When he dies in that locked prison cell, how are they go get him out? Or are they even going to bother? Perhaps just leave his corpse in there for eternity. Perhaps we should just build prison’s with one use doors, save money on the keys, although, that doesn’t seem very efficient, too me, but, of course, I am just a 25 year old kid with no foreseeable future, so what do I know?
Regardless, we’d have to build a lot more prisons and in America we already have a TON that the states can hardly afford to run as it is… but its okay as I am sure CCA would be happy to lend a hand with building many, many more and filling them, even! They dont mind. They’d love to. They are great at building and filling prisons but I bet they never heard of one use doors. Perhaps you should pitch the idea to them? They’d love it. Just imagine how much more money they’d make.

No it wouldnt. Imagine, being a sexual driven and charged animal, then having your gear removed. You are not going to be happy. In fact, your are going to be a lot more mentally unstable then before. “Bobbitizing” is not the answer. The human brain is a little more complex then you apparently perceive. I could really get into the psychology, here, but I dont have the time nor care, presently. Anyway, cutting off or removing someone’s gear who’s sexually deviant will solve nothing. Put him in prison. Its all that can be done, in this society.

maine needs the death penalty for sex crimes that would stop the abuse
I do not know a state that is more lenient than Maine for sex crime sentences. Sure if you’re poor and stupid and don’t get good legal representation you get some decent jail time. If you can afford a decent attorney you can count your sentence in weeks not years. Poor police work, lazy D.A.’s just can stand up in court. The Great Salt Bay school teacher who was recently convicted in Bath Superior Court, of “unlawful sexual contact” to 3 4th grade girls , even with a handwritten confession, was able to swing a deal which landed him in jail for 22 weeks.
Good for his (soon to be ex-)wife for reporting him! That took a lot of courage. I can’t imagine the shock she is enduring. I hope they have no kids together!
This type of behavior should not be tolerated outside of The County.
