FRIENDSHIP, Maine — Lobstermen are competing for bragging rights and prizes while racing their boats in Friendship as part of the ongoing series of boat races along the Maine coast.

Saturday’s races are in Friendship, a lobster-fishing harbor along the state’s midcoast. They are the seventh set of races for the summer.

The races are action-packed contests where lobstermen race their vessels at speeds that can top 60 mph with spectators watching from shore and from boats that line the race courses.

More races are being held Sunday in Harpswell.

  1. Anyone who reads this, BUY LOBSTER.  Let’s support fellow Mainer’s .  Hope they have a fun day racing.  The lobstermen and women deserve a good time.

  2. They don’t have money enough to go and do their jobs, but they can buy diesel to play around?

    1. Don’t they deserve some fun?  where is your kindred Maine spirit?  Ever been on a lobster boat and in bad weather?  do you enjoy eating lobster?   something for you to think about.
